In September of 1984, he accepted a one grade promotion to work for his friend (George) at the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (as a Data Processing Programmer/Analyst Specialist IV, working out-of-classification as a Data Processing Staff Specialist).  He retired from the State of Maryland Government as of January 31, 2006 (as a Data Processing Staff Specialist), with credit for " ... over 40 years of Faithful Service to the Citizens of Maryland".
