Wendy Davis Licensed Massage Therapist "About Me" Message from Wendy's Website: www.handsthatlisten.com
"I received my degree in Therapeutic Massage from the Anne Arundel Community College in 2006. My training included over 60 credits largely in health related courses including but not limited to: Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrition, Medical Terminology, Chemistry, CPR, First Aid, and 20 credits in Therapeutic Massage. I am both State licensed and Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and have passed the NCTMB exam (see NCBTMB page). I am also a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). I have been studying energy healing under the widely recognized healer and teacher Mike Uggen of Indiana, and Tereaz Sholze of Upper Marlboro Maryland. My journey in energy work has been a great source of excitement for me.
I became interested in massage therapy and alternative and complimentary healing when my father was diagnosed with stage IV prostate cancer that had metastasized in his liver and lungs. The prognosis was very poor. My father was terribly sick, very weak and had lost over 40 pounds of weight. He began aggressively fighting the symptoms with a few traditional medicines and an entire regimin of alternative complimentary medicines for health and well being. One of these alternatives included weekly massage and cranio-sacral work. His progress and his testimonials to these life-changing treatments really drew me in and I've been enthusiastically seeking the skills, knowledge and expertise to adequately administer the same healing he shared about ever since. I was also able to comfort him with these techniques and knowledge that I acquired as he began to slip in his battle a few years later.
Though I offer many types of massage, my specialties are those that facilitate healing within people who struggle with chronic pain or loss of mobility. I utilize many corrective techniques such as deep tissue, myofascial release, neuromuscular and trigger point therapy. The type of bodywork I perform is ideal for correcting chronic soft tissue dysfunction (stubborn muscle-knots and or contractions) that are caused by stress, physical exertion, injury, congenital disease or surgery.
Currently, I work with Odenton Chiropractics (Baltimore Washington Disc Institute), in Gambrills, with An Ounce of Prevention, an alternative and wellness center in Stevensville, and in an adult rehabilitation and assisted living center in Annapolis. I also have a private residential office in Arnold.
With all that said "about me," if you have any more questions regarding my educational background and healing philosophy, simply give me a call or send me an email. For now, I'll sum it up with this simple saying: "I DO WHAT I LOVE - AND LOVE WHAT I DO!!
